Dorothy Lynch Salad Dressing

  • 1 cup sugar*
  • 1 cup salad oil
  • 1 can tomato sauce (8-oz.)
  • 1/2 cup vinegar
  • 1/2 tsp. Garlic powder
  • 1 tsp. Dry mustard
  • 1 tsp. Celery seed
  • 1 tsp. Salt
  • 1/8 tsp. Pepper

Blend all ingredients until smooth. Store in airtight container and keep refrigerated.

*I tried replacing the sugar with ½ cup honey and it tasted great!  The only problem I had was that the honey tended to solidify, making the dressing kind of lumpy after a while.  You could also try using organic sugar or Sucanat for a healthier option.

  1. Thank you for this recipe. I like that it calls for tomato sauce instead of soup. As I'm diabetic, I plan to use In The Raw's All-Purpose Zero Calorie Sweetener Blend.
