I found this recipe in a cookbook I have and adapted it a little.  It is different than my other granola bar recipe, but we like it.  My kids love having snacks around and I try to keep some healthy things made up.  You can make several batches of these and freeze individually in baggies for a quick and yummy treat!  Enjoy!

Chewy Granola Bars

  • 4 ½ cups rolled oats
  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/3 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2/3 cup butter, softened
  • ½ cup honey
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup chocolate chips
  • 1/3 cup raisins

Preheat oven to 325 degrees.  Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.

In a large bowl, combine the oats, flour, baking soda, brown sugar, butter, honey, and vanilla.  Stir in the chocolate chips and raisins.

Lightly press into prepared pan.  Bake at 325 for 18-22 minutes or until lightly golden brown.  Let cool for 10 minutes, then cut into bars.

Gluten-free: To make gluten-free, use gluten-free certified oats and gluten-free flour.

    1. No, this is not a THM recipe. Since it has fat and carbs, it would be a crossover. But it's a good healthy option if you don't mind a crossover.
