Allspice Substitute

I love to use Allspice when I make apple pie, pumpkin bars, muffins, etc.  Well, I recently ran out and being the creative person I am asked myself, “I wonder if there is a substitute for Allspice that I can make?”  So…to Google I went and found one!  I thought I’d share it here.  It is so simple and uses spices that you probably already have on hand!  Enjoy!

1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp. ground ginger
1/4 tsp. ground cloves

Mix up the above ingredients to make 1 tsp. of Allspice.

To make larger batches, simply use 2 parts cinnamon, 1 part ginger, and 1 part cloves.

Notes:  I used an old spice bottle and filled it with Allspice that I made.  Now I am ready to do more baking!  I just LOVE the smell of Allspice….reminds me of fall…the cooler weather…baked apples…yum!

  1. I found your recipe while cooking for Rosh Hashana (the Jewish New Year) - which starts Wednesday night. I love that a Christian website helped me get ready for a Jewish holiday! Thanks so much!
