Chocolate Chip Raisin Cookies

I wanted to share a recipe with you that my kids LOVE to have for breakfast.  I actually call these Breakfast Cookies, but I think they are going to become the recipe I fall back on for cookies to make for snacks.  They have no sugar (honey instead), and the flour and oats are soaked overnight to make them more digestible.  Anyway…we love these cookies…I hope you do too!

The night before mix up the following, cover, and let sit overnight:

  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup buttermilk (I use my homemade buttermilk)
  • 1-1/3 cups whole wheat flour (fresh ground is best!)
  • 1 cup whole rolled oats

In the morning add:

  • 1 egg
  • 1 t. vanilla
  • 1/2 t.  salt
  • 1/2 t. cinnamon
  • 1/2 t. baking soda
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips

Use a spoon or cookie scoop to drop dough onto greased cookie sheets.

Bake at 350 degrees for about 15 minutes.

Notes:  I use a small cookie scoop and get about 3 dozen cookies out of this recipe.  You could also couple this recipe to make a huge batch.  Freeze them for snacks later!  Enjoy!

    1. Hi Debbie, We LOVE these cookies and they are so easy to make. When you soak the oats along with the flour overnight (as the recipes states) they soften up and make the cookies so good. Enjoy!
  2. I just made these "Chocolate Chip Raisin Cookies". They are really good. Everybody likes them. It was great to have something sitting out this morning for the family to grab as we were on our way out for Co-Op. And, now that we are home they are a great afternoon snack. Thanks so much for posting this.
