Old Fashioned Oatmeal & Berries {Trim Healthy Mama}

I never knew oatmeal could taste so good!  I don’t know what it is about this recipe, but it tastes incredible.  Directions are found in the Trim Healthy Mama book (page 228).  While I love having a smoothie for breakfast, during the winter months something warm tastes so good.  I will definitely be making this one often while this cold weather persists!

  1. I have the new plan book and cook book. This recipe is not in them. THM has this pinned in E breakfasts. Do you think you can share the recipe?
    1. Hi Elizabeth! Basically the oatmeal is just cooked oatmeal with added cinnamon, vanilla, and maybe some whey protein stirred in after it is cooked. They also add in 1 tsp. coconut oil and 1/4 cup hot water to your bowl after it is cooked. Then you can add some berries too. Hope that helps!
  2. Is it possible to make this and use a meat instead of the whey protein powder? I am sensitive to whey protein : ( I made this recipe today but ate a few pieces of beef patty, very lean, to make up for the protein powder. I love this recipe. Sometimes you just need a warm bowl of oatmeal. Thanks in advance!!
    1. Hi Lisa! You can have some meat along with the oatmeal, but you just have to make sure it is low fat since this is an E meal. Sounds like you did great!
  3. I've been trying to figure out how much/what kind of sweetener to use! I have several types of stevia, and I like it in general, but I always feel like it has a funny twang in oatmeal. What do you use in your oatmeal?
    1. Dear Lauren, I just use the NuNaturals Pure White Stevia Powder...a little at a time until it tastes good. I also add cinnamon and vanilla to my oatmeal and that seems to offset the different taste of the stevia. I hope that helps!
