The Intentional Bible Study Journal

I am so excited about my book, The Intentional Bible Study Journal. This is a great tool to use in your daily Bible study times.

Below you will find my outline for studying through 1 & 2 Peter. But before you go there, I wanted to explain how I set these studies up in The Intentional Bible Study Journal.

The Intentional Bible Study Journal - Contents Sample

First I divided up the books (1 & 2 Peter) into short passages (see my plan below). I then went into my Intentional Bible Study Journal and recorded in order the passages to study each day.

I then went to the Contents page in the front and recorded the page numbers that the studies for each of these books began on. This will make it easy for me to see later on what books I have studied in that journal and what pages each of the studies begins on.

I thought it would be good to give you a glimpse of how these studies are done. You can always see full details on using the SOAP method of Bible study on my SOAP Resources page (this post will be linked on that page too, as well as any future studies I do).

I took a quick picture of the first study I did. I read 1 Peter 1:1-12, and then I chose 1 Peter 1:6-7 for the verses to really dig into and study. I copied the verses down into my journal.

Next, I wrote down any observations I had from those two verses I chose. These are just simple facts that stood out to me.

The next section is for recording how these verses apply to my life. What I need to do about it or how it should affect me.

The last area is to write down a prayer to the Lord, confessing any sin, asking for guidance and strength, giving thanks, or whatever the Lord lays on your heart to pray.

I hope it helps to “see” how I do these studies and encourages you to do some of your own!

My Study Through 1 & 2 Peter

Since I will be creating a reading plan for my own studies, I decided to share these with you. Don’t feel you have to divide up the reading like I have done, but if it will help you get started then please start with what I have and venture out on your own once you feel comfortable.

Below are the daily readings through 1 & 2 Peter. I simply went through my journal and wrote in what to read each day in order. That way I can just open up my journal, find the verses in my Bible to read, and begin!

  2. 1 Peter 1:13-25
  3. 1 Peter 2:1-12
  4. 1 Peter 2:13-25
