Books Read This Week - 06-24

It has been a good week! I spent all day yesterday doing homeschool planning for next year. Today I plan on trying to finish things up as much as I can. It always feels good to get that planning done and then I can enjoy the rest of the summer!

The days here in Kansas are getting pretty warm (supposed to be 100 degrees today!). I’m thinking we may have to have a water day with the kids real soon! I have enjoyed having some time to do some crocheting too. I have some dishcloths that I need to add to the Shop. Watch for a post about that once I get that done! Also, I want to make sure you don’t miss out on a couple freebies – be sure to grab the free ebook this month AND the free Cash Envelope System!

Well, I better close and get on to the books I got read and the ones I’ve chosen to read the coming week.

3 Books I Finished This Week

Deepest Roots of the Heart

Deepest Roots of the Heart – This is a fairly new book by Chautona Havig. I love historical fiction and I really enjoyed this one! Lots of lessons to learn on forgiveness, perseverance, family honor, and more. Highly recommended!

Why Your Blog is Failing and How to Fix It – I picked this book up after I saw it recommended and read through it in one sitting. While it is a rather short book, it was packed with lots of great tips for bloggers.

Hazardous Duty

Hazardous Duty (Squeaky Clean Mysteries Book 1) – This is a new author for me, but it was recommended by a friend so I thought I’d give it a try. While it was a little different than other books I have read, I really did enjoy it. Don’t be surprised if another book in this series shows up in my “To Read” list soon!

Books I Plan to Read This Coming Week

A Girl of the Limberlost – This is the current book we are reading in our afternoon read-aloud times. The copy I have is the one that was passed down to me from my grandparents — copyright 1909! We have really been enjoying it and look forward to reading more this week! This book is also included in my Read-Aloud Treasury Vol. 5 on Kindle!

Island of the Blue Dolphins – This is our current read-aloud I am reading to the kids at breakfast. We are really enjoying it and will probably finish it this week.

Platform: Get Noticed in a Noisy World – I love the advice from Michael Hyatt and have followed his blog for probably over a year now. I have had this book on Kindle for a while now and have never read it. Several have recommended it again recently, so I decided to get it pulled up and read it! I didn’t get this one finished this week, but have read through several chapters so far. There is a wealth of great advice in this book and I can’t wait to finish it!

Speak Now – I decided to read another one of Chautona Havig’s books and chose this one. I just started it and so far I am enjoying it!

Pride and Prejudice – After many of you emailed me and sent notes of encouragement, I decided to give this one another try!

Own Your Life – I am currently studying through this book with a friend. We read a chapter a week and then discuss together via email or Skype. This study has been so good and I highly recommend it!
