Our Favorite Christmas Movies

Ok. I’ll admit it. Our family loves watching movies together, especially around Christmas!
Over the years we have accumulated quite a library of DVDs that we enjoy over and over again. From Thanksgiving all the way to New Year’s, we enjoy watching a Christmas movie together as a family in the evenings.
One fun idea that I read about doing was to choose some of your favorite Christmas movies and wrap them up in Christmas wrapping paper. You can wrap up movies that you already have or new ones you purchased.
Put them in a basket in the living room or wherever you have your television. Each day or however often you want to watch a Christmas movie, let the kids pick one out of the basket and open it. Then pop some popcorn and enjoy the movie together. (You can also do a similar thing with Christmas picture books!)
Recently a reader asked about some good movies for their family to watch and so I decided to go ahead and do a post about some of our favorites.
[Please preview before watching with your children, as there are a few of these that are a little more intense and may scare young children.]

You’ve got to watch The Christmas Wish. It has a very good ending. It stars Neil Patrick Harris.
You know, I think I have watched that one! I think we borrowed it from my parents. Thanks for reminding me of that one!
What a great list of Christmas movies to look thru! Thank you for posting them!!! 🙂 We also love “Elf” for a great Christmas comedy!! 😉 This week we watched “The Christmas Box” & it’s sequel “Timepiece”…I cried during Timepiece as I cuddled my little girl all the tighter! I do NOT recommend it! It’s not a happy Christmas story, except that their family finds forgiveness in their hearts. But it’s SOOO sad. We would t be watching that again! We love all the Christmas Hallmark movies!! 🙂 Another Christmas favorite of ours is the newer version of Miracle on 34th Street. So many good Christmas books & movies! A fun filled season! 🙂 Merry Christmas!
Hi Amy! We have The Christmas Box and Timepiece too. I didn’t add it to the list because it is so sad and I thought wouldn’t make a very good family movie time :). We love the Hallmark ones too and have been watching some of those this year too. It’s so much fun just being together as a family!
