I thought I’d take a little time this morning and share some of our favorite homeschool resources on DVD.  There are many excellent DVDs out there and we enjoy adding to our growing library each year.  Here are some that we have and still are enjoying.  I hope you enjoy a quick tour of our homeschool DVD library….

MOODY SCIENCE CLASSICS – 19 DVD SET

Marvel at amazing insects, animals, and fish. Journey through the human circulatory system. Discover why the Incan culture mysteriously declined. And through it all, rejoice in the majesty of God! Packed with fascinating facts about physics, biology, astronomy, and more, these award-winning films offer your whole family a balanced approach to science, while giving credit to the Creator. 19 DVDs, 28 minutes each.  We were recently able to purchase this wonderful set of Moody Science DVDs! We have borrowed them from our church library for a while, but are now so thankful to have our very own set. Not only are these DVDs full of science to learn about, but there is always a spiritual application at the end of each video.

WONDERS OF GOD’S CREATION

This is another excellent set of DVDs focusing on God’s creation.  Your kids will LOVE these!

INCREDIBLE CREATURES THAT DEFY EVOLUTION

We have one in this series and it is a truly amazing DVD!  You and your kids will learn so much about animals and how they could have only been created by God.  Excellent!

UNLOCKING THE MYSTERY OF LIFE and THE PRIVILEGED PLANET

These two videos may be a little deep for your younger children, but they are excellent for older children and adults.  While these documentaries are not presented from a Christian viewpoint, they let science speak for itself.  Intelligent design just makes sense and is backed up by science!  While we believe that God created life and everything we see around us, these videos will equip you to back that up with scientific evidence.  Excellent!

ANSWERS WITH KEN HAM

Based in the book of Genesis, Ken Ham offers this excellent 12-part DVD series.  Each DVD is about 30 minutes long, making it a nice length for viewing with your children.  Ken Ham even offers a free study guide to go along with the DVDs.  The study guide can be downloaded here.  Be sure to include this excellent series in your family library!  Highly recommended!

THE AMERICAN HERITAGE SERIES

This 10 DVD set by Wallbuilders is an excellent source for learning the Christian heritage of the United States.  I am having my oldest daughter (a senior) watch these as part of her school work this year.  There is so much information in this set, that I am going to have her watch them through twice.  With over 13 hours of video, this will keep you busy for a while.  Excellent!!!

DRIVE THRU HISTORY SERIES – WORLD & AMERICAN HISTORY

These DVDs are some of our kids all time favorites!  They LOVE them, and have learned so much history by watching them.  I only have one DVD set pictured here, but there are actually sets for American History and World History.  Click on the links below to go to each DVD/set.  I can’t recommend these enough!  Excellent!

THE NEWTON’S WORKSHOP

There are actually 4 DVDs in this series (I only have one pictured above).  My kids loved these too…even the little ones.  Here are the 4 different DVDs that are available in this series:

BIOLOGY 101: BIOLOGY ACCORDING TO THE DAYS OF CREATION

This is a 4 DVD set covering the topic of biology for the whole family.  I had one of my older children go through this one year for Biology, but my younger children enjoyed watching the DVDs too…and learned some things!  It comes with a PDF study guide that includes text to read and quizzes.  This is an excellent resource for Biology!  We loved it!

    1. I can share with you what my preschoolers enjoy watching ;). They enjoy any of the Moody DVDs, The Newton's Workshop DVDs, The Wonders of God's Creation, Incredible Creatures that Defy Evolution, and some of the Drive Thru History. Now, they may not understand all of it, but they do enjoy watching these with their older brothers and sister. Does that help?
      1. It helps. Do any of those have music/songs? Since I don't have older children yet... *wry* Getting there one day at a time (Tomorrow my son will be 3!)
