1/2 cup butter, softened
3/4 cup Sucanat or Organic Cane Sugar
1 tablespoon molasses
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
cinnamon & sugar mixture

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

In a large bowl blend butter, sugar, and molasses. Add egg and vanilla and blend until light and fluffy. Add baking powder, salt, and whole wheat flour. Mix well. Form dough into small walnut-sized balls, roll in cinnamon & sugar mixture, and then place on greased cookie sheet. Flatten dough with the bottom of a glass.

Bake for 8-10 minutes.

Yield: Makes about 2 1/2 dozen cookies.

Note: This recipe can easily be doubled for a large batch of cookies. These are so yummy!

  1. I had to come back and tell you that we made your Snickerdoodles. I made them with my younger daughters and they had so much fun rolling them in sugar and then flattening them with a glass. We had never made these before and it was a lot of fun for them. They were so, so yummy! We're keeping this recipe as a favorite now. Thank you :)
  2. Hoo, boy - now I'm in trouble! I was just wrapping up my comment under your hot pocket recipe when I saw that this had been posted . . . I love snickerdoodles!! I'm thinking that fresh cookies and some apple cider are in our future tonight. :-) Blessings, Kate
