My Notes:

Many of you, including me, are winding down your homeschool for the year and are looking forward to summer. With the summer months comes lots of fun family times and outdoor activity. But I want to encourage you to keep your kids learning this summer! Below I have listed 16 great resources that will give you tons of great ideas for learning. Enjoy!

– Summertime Fun Charts {free} – These editable charts are perfect for giving your child motivation to be production during the summer months!

–Summer Reading Programs – You can do the Pizza Hut Book It program during the school year (Oct. 1-Mar. 31) for grades K-6 or many local libraries have some sort of summer reading program you can sign up for. Barnes & Noble has a summer reading program.

– Huge List of Free-Time Activities – Need some ideas for those Summertime Fun Charts? Check out this huge list! OR check out this great post with lots of outdoor ideas!

– Brush up on math facts – Create an account at XtraMath and work on getting those math facts memorized!

– Creative Writing Fun – This looks like a fun way to do some creative writing! Take a look! It’s called One Word. It gives you one word and you have 60 seconds to write about it. Or print out these free writing prompts for kids or use this site to find some great writing prompts! Another option would be to check out these online writing games.

– On This Day in Church History – Learn about important people and events in church history!

– Daily Spelling Bee – Brush up on those spelling skills with this fun activity!

– Daily Audio Bible – Listen to this Daily  Audio Bible while eating, playing, or creating this summer.

– More Nature Study – Check out these free nature study lessons based on Our Wonderful World {free to download}. OR Identify birds in your neighborhood with the All About Birds online field guide – https://www.allaboutbirds.org/.

– Read-Aloud Time – I plan on continuing our history, science, and literature reading this summer. What we do is spend anywhere from 1/2 hour to 1 hour reading in the afternoons. I will be rotating reading on history and science topics, as well as choosing some great literature to read aloud. It should be fun! I can’t recommend Sarah Clarkson’s book, Read for the Heart, highly enough. It has been such a great resource for great books to check out from the library. (I should note that I will also be encouraging my children to read on their own!) Here is my Homeschooler’s Read-Aloud Guide to help you find lists of great books to read together!

– Read some great science living books:  Nature Study Made EasyBird World, or First Book of Birds.

– Read some great classics, science books, or character building books. Check out my brand new The Read-Aloud Treasury Series on Kindle!

– Craft Recipes – Download this huge list of craft recipes — from homemade play dough to bubbles!

May each of you have a wonderful summer filled with lots of learning!
