The last couple of weeks have been busy for me and I haven’t gotten as much reading done. Life happens, and I am learning to make the most of it and not fall into feelings of guilt if I don’t get everything done I want to get done. The weather here in Kansas has been so very hot that we have stayed inside much of the time. I am really thinking that maybe I should reconsider our homeschool schedule and do more school during the summer! Â Oh well, live and learn!
Well, I better close and get on to the books I did get read and the ones I’ve chosen to read the coming week.

2 Books I Finished This Week
Pride and Prejudice – After many of you emailed me and sent notes of encouragement, I decided to give this one another try! I ended up enjoying it and look forward to reading another Jane Austen book sometime in the near future!
Tea with Emma – This week I was needing some light reading and decided to read this quick novella. It was a great story and I really enjoyed it. (Psst….it is free right now on Kindle!)
Books I Plan to Read This Coming Week
The Dangerous Canoe Race – There are five books in this series and we read the first three a year or so ago and never got the last two read. So, I decided to pick these up now and read them. We will began reading this one along with our other breakfast reading and the kids are enjoying this one!
The Story of the Trapp Family Singers – I chose this book to read in the afternoons during our read-aloud time. We have read the first 4 or 5 chapters so far and love it. It has been fun to see how the “real story” differs from the Sound of Music movie. We had started reading The Magician’s Nephew during our afternoon read-aloud time and got about halfway through it, but we just couldn’t get into it. It was a little scary for my younger ones and I guess we just aren’t used to reading books in this genre. Maybe someday!
Ruby – I chose this one to start reading this week when I was needing something relaxing to do. I have only read a couple chapters, but it sounds like it is going to be a great book. It is free right now on Kindle too!
Platform: Get Noticed in a Noisy World – I love the advice from Michael Hyatt and have followed his blog for probably over a year now. I have had this book on Kindle for a while now and have never read it. Several have recommended it again recently, so I decided to get it pulled up and read it! I didn’t get this one finished this week, but continue to work my way through the chapters as I have time. There is a wealth of great advice in this book and I can’t wait to finish it!
Addicted to Busy – I picked up this book when it was free on Kindle last week. Reading the introduction, it looks like it will be a really good book! I didn’t get this one started this week though, but hope to get some of it read next week.
Own Your Life – I am currently studying through this book with a friend. We read a chapter a week and then discuss together via email or Skype. This study has been so good and I highly recommend it! We only have a few chapters left now!
