Books Read This Week {03.04.15)

Well, I only finished one book this past week and it was one I actually wasn’t planning on reading. I think you are going to start seeing one of my weaknesses…I start reading lots of books and then have a hard time finishing them! As you can see below, I have quite a few books “in progress”, so this week I am going to buckle down and focus on finishing some of them. A couple of the books I am reading through just a little each week because I am studying through it with a friend. But the others are going to get some concentrated reading time this week!

Here is the book I finished this week and the ones that are still “in progress”.

1 Book I Finished This Week

tarnished silver

Tarnished Silver – Confession time…I hadn’t planned to read this book this past week, but we got kind of snowed in over the weekend and I had some extra time to snuggle in with a good book. So..I finished another book by Chautona Havig! I loved it too!

Books I Plan to Read This Coming Week

The Fiddler’s Secret (Freedom Seekers #6) – This is our current read-aloud with the kids. We have loved this series and will most likely finish up this last book in the series this week. We have learned so much about the Underground Railroad and it has truly been inspiring to read about! If you are going to be studying slavery and the Underground Railroad, I highly recommend this series! They are excellent!

For the Children’s Sake -I started reading through this book this past week and there is so much there to absorb and think about, that I didn’t get too far! That’s ok though. Books like this deserve a slow read and that is what I am going to do. This book will be my main focus this coming week.

The 15 Success Traits of Pro Bloggers – I picked this book up for free on Kindle this week and it looks really good. I plan to read through it and glean what I can that might help me make my blog better!

You Are Loved -This book and Bible study has just been amazing! My friend and I are having such a great study and learning so much. If you struggle with doubts, fears, listening to the lies of Satan, this book really opens your eyes to what the Bible says about God’s amazing love for us!

Own Your Life – Still hoping to start this one soon!

  1. Hello Sweet Sheri! First let me just say how much I absolutely love your blog! You are such a blessing and always share wonderful information! Thanks to your blog the kids and I started our very first book from the Freedom Seekers series, Escape Into The Night, on Monday and we're LOVING it! Every time we got to the end of a chapter I would (secretly jokingly) say, "Ok...we'll start on the next chapter tomorrow" and oh dear the cries of agony..."Just one more chapter! Come on mom!" We read the first 6 chapters that day. We're all enjoying it and having such great discussions! I've also started reading "Educating the Whole Hearted Child" (by Clay & Sally Clarkson) this week. Do you know I've had this book sitting on my bookshelf for almost 11 years and only read thru the first few pages! I don't know why! :( And of course, I'm still going through my Trim Healthy Mama book. I've been on plan since November 1 and as of December 24 I've lost 27 pounds. I haven't weighed since then only because I've really not wanted to become the "slave" to the scales that I have been in past years. I do plan on weighing on at the end of this month though! :) The THM contains so much life changing information, I guess you can say it will always be one of my very often used reference books. So, that's it in a nutshell for us. I always look forward to your newsletter and thank you for all you do! Many Blessings, Christy Pogue
    1. Dear Christy, Thank you so much for your sweet note! It means so much to me! There are times when I wonder if what I do here is really useful for people and a blessing to them. Then I get notes like yours and it makes it all worth it ;)! I am so excited that you are enjoying the Freedom Seekers series. We are getting toward the end of the last book in the series and it has been so good. You will love the whole series. You are going to LOVE Educating the Wholehearted Child. It is so packed full of great and wise advise. Congratulations on the THM journey! Sounds like you are doing great too. I just finished eating a yummy strawberry dessert that I made yesterday. I used my Vanilla Cake FP recipe and made a 9x13 cake, then I layered chunks of cake, strawberries, and light cool whip in a large salad bowl. It tasted so good. Anyway, keep at it! Many blessing to you and your family! Thanks again for your kind and encouraging words. In Christ, Sheri
