I mentioned earlier this week that I would do a post with some of our favorite books we read aloud this past year.  We LOVE our read-aloud time in the afternoon!  Each year as I plan school for the coming year, I make a list of all the books I want to read to the kids during our afternoon read-aloud time – historical books, good literature, and just good Godly books that we can learn from.  I make out my list in my Intentional Planner and file it under the Homeschool: Reading List tab.  Then I just select a book and we start reading through it one, two, (or more depending on if we can stop!) chapters a day until we are done.   When completed, I check it off my list, fill in the date completed, and select another one.  It really is amazing how many books we can read through in a year.  Why don’t you give it a try?  Start this summer…make a list of some books you want to read and start right in!  Below are most of the books we read this past year….we enjoyed them all!  Just click on the covers for more information on each book.  Enjoy!

Viking Tales – This is a reprint of an old book but my sons really enjoyed this one!

Benjamin Franklin by Ingri D’Aulaire – We LOVED all these books by Ingri D’Aulaire!

George Washington by Ingri D’Aulaire

Molly Pitcher – Girl Patriot

York Proceeded On – Written by a homeschool mom, we enjoyed this one too!

Teddy’s Button – Another classic that we re-read this past year.

The Farm Mystery Series – Weighty Matters – We have read several in the “Farm Mystery Series” and have really enjoyed them.  Just some more great Godly stories to read together.
