Today we are going to look at another fun thing you can do together as a family to bless others — Baking! I don’t know too many people who wouldn’t enjoy a plate of home-baked cookies.
1. Make a list of people that you think would enjoy a plate of cookies.
Take some time to jot down a list of those people that you think would enjoy a cookie plate. Maybe an elderly neighbor, a stay-at-home mom who is in a season with lots of littles, a friend who needs some encouragement, your local fire department or police station, or a family dealing with some sort of crisis. It is amazing what a simple gesture such as a plate of cookies can do to lift spirits and communicate your love for them.
Now that you have your list, choose just two or three people to make cookie plates for this time. You can do more if you wish, but start small if you want and choose just a couple to do right now. Maybe there is someone that is needing some encouragement right now — circle those two or three on your list. Now you are ready to gather some recipes and go shopping!
2. Gather your recipes and go shopping.
Choose a few different cookie recipes to make. These can be some of your family favorites, or feel free to browse my Recipe Index or my cookie board on Pinterest (see below) for some ideas.
Make a list of the ingredients you need to buy. Don’t forget to get some pretty plates and plastic wrap for the cookie plates! Make your list and then go shopping.
3. Mix up the cookie dough and flash freeze.
Now that you have all the ingredients for your cookies, mix up the recipes and flash freeze cookie dough balls on cookie sheets. Once frozen, store cookie dough balls in labeled freezer bags in the freezer until you are ready to bake.
4. Schedule your visits.
Since you want your cookie plates to be as fresh as possible, go ahead now and schedule when you plan on delivering your cookie plates. Once you have times set on the calendar, bake and prepare the cookie plates the day before your planned visit. Having the cookie dough balls in the freezer makes it very easy and quick to bake and assemble the cookie plates when you are ready.
