I thought it would be fun to do a post sharing with you about why I do what I do here. I have been blogging for quite a few years now, and while it has been a lot of work, it has been so rewarding!
I hope you enjoy this little jaunt into how I got started blogging and why I have kept at it so long.
How I Started
It was during the early years of homeschooling that I decided to start a blog. That was back in 2005 before WordPress, when all there was available was HTML sites. I built a small site and began sharing about our homeschool studies. That original site was: www.school4jesus.com. I kept that site for quite a few years until I made the decision to move my blog to a new site with a new name.
Since then, my site has taken on a life of its own, and has become a resource for the Christian family in the areas of homemaking, homeschooling, and family life!
Recently I have been focusing more and more on being intentional. I think the older I get, the more I realize how quickly time goes by. I want to live life intentionally so that every day counts.
So while my original blog started as a way to share about our homeschool studies, it has grown and changed into a blog where I share my passion for living life with intention.
Why I Blog
One of the most important things that I did before I changed direction with my site, was ask myself the big “Why?” question. Why did I want to continue to blog, to send out newsletters, to create products, to help and encourage people? Here is my “Why?”:
I believe this is something that God has called me to do. God has been able to use my “computer tech” ability (I really just teach myself as I go!) to build a website from the ground up and learn how to run a business. I have been able to use that “space” to encourage many women through the years and I am so grateful! Every time I hear from one of you how something I have said or posted about helped you or encouraged you, it just confirms again and again why I am here doing what I am doing!
I want to encourage other women to live intentionally. Life is short. The older I get the faster time goes by. I want to live life to the fullest, not taking anything for granted. I want to encourage other women to look at how they are living their life and evaluate if they are living it with purpose and intention.
I want to help women get systems in place in their home so they can experience more peace and joy. I have learned so much over the past 27+ years of marriage and I love sharing how to get systems in place so that your home runs more smoothly. Many times we homemakers get so overwhelmed with all that needs to be done, we need someone to come alongside us and help us figure out the next step to take.
I want to be able to contribute to our family’s income. While my husband has a good job, being able to contribute to our family’s income has helped my staying home with the kids to be much easier on our budget. I have loved being home with the kids and being able to homeschool. The income I earn from this blog has eased some of that financial strain.
I want to be able to give more. Probably the most rewarding thing that we have been able to do as a result of starting this blog, is the ability for us to give more. We have been able to sponsor three children through Compassion, as well as contribute to ministries such as Angel Tree and Samaritan’s Purse.
