Books Read This Week - 05-20

I didn’t get quite as much time this past week to read, but that’s ok. Since we are on our summer break, I have been trying to work on some projects around the house. It feels good to have a little more time to work with during the day and being able to get some much needed projects done. My project for today is the bathroom cupboards. They are getting overrun with “stuff” and it needs decluttering and organized big time!

Here are the books I finished and the ones that I plan on reading this coming week.

3 Books I Finished This Week

Annie Henry and the Redcoats

Annie Henry and the Redcoats (Adventures in the American Revolution-Book 4) – This was our current read-aloud I have been reading to the kids. We finished up this book this week and completed this series. We really enjoyed this historical fiction set during the Revolutionary War and highly recommend it!

Charlottes Web

Charlotte’s Web – I have been reading this book as part of our read-aloud time at breakfast. The kids really enjoyed this classic!

Unforeseeable

Unforeseeable (Road to Kingdom #3) – This was another great book by Nancy Mehl and this completed the Road to Kingdom series. I enjoyed this series as it delved into topics such as learning to trust God, following God and not men, and much more.

Books I Plan to Read This Coming Week

A Girl of the Limberlost – I am so excited to start reading this book aloud to the kids. This will be our next book to read during our afternoon read-aloud times. The copy I have is the one that was passed down to me from my grandparents — copyright 1909! It is a treasure and will be so exciting to dig into with the kids this week. This book is also included in my Read-Aloud Treasury Vol. 5 on Kindle!

Island of the Blue Dolphins – This is the new read-aloud I started reading to the kids at breakfast. We’ve had this book a long time and have never read it.

Honey for a Child’s Heart – I started this book this week, but didn’t quite get it finished. I won’t actually be reading this whole book. I plan on reading the first half of the book which covers reading aloud to our kids and much more. The second half of the book is the book lists. I’ll skim over those just to give me a good idea of what is there. I have heard so many good things about this book and am excited to finally have a copy for myself!

Confessions of a De-cluttering Junkie – I started on this one this week and look forward to finishing it this week!

For the Children’s Sake -I am still making my way slowly through this book and really enjoying it. There is a lot to think about as I read, so it is taking me longer than I thought to finish.

Own Your Life – I am currently studying through this book with a friend. We read a chapter a week and then discuss together via email or Skype. This study has been so good and I highly recommend it!
