This recipe I am sharing with you today is one that has been in my family since I was little. Â Every Christmas one of my Grandmas would make these (along with a ton of other kinds of cookies!). Â You can see these Brunekake cookies in the cookie plate below – they are on the left side. Â These are so good and taste kind of like graham crackers. Â My kids love them. Â They make a neat looking cookie to include in your cookie plates to give away to family and friends…Yes, I am planning on doing the Christmas Cookie Plates project again this year! Â I am so excited! Â Won’t you join me? Â You can even find some neat labels here that you can print out to use for your cookie plates if you want! Â Have fun!
Brunekake
Cream together:
- 1 cup butter
- 1 cup sugar
Add:
- 1 teas. vanillinsocker (vanilla powder) – OR just use 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- 2 Tblsp. Golden Corn Syrup (OR use 2 T. honey for a healthier option)
- 2 cups flour (use hard white wheat for a healthier option)
- 1 teas. baking soda
Form 6 long rolls. Bake 2 at a time on ungreased cookie sheet at 350 degrees for 15 minutes. Cut in diagonal pieces (see diagram below) while warm.
NOTE: Â These Brunekake cookies were made by my grandparents every Christmas. Grandma always had a large tin FULL of them! I’m not sure where they got the recipe, but Christmas just isn’t the same without making some of these! They are so easy to make and taste so good! They are great by themselves or dunked in coffee or tea! Enjoy!
