Slumber Parties & Sickness

It started out innocent enough…I wanted to do something special with the kids so last Friday I told them we were going to have a slumber party in the living room!  It had been quite a while since we had done that and the kids were SO excited!  All our bedrooms are upstairs, so this meant hauling sleeping bags, pillows, dolls, etc. down to the main floor where the living room is.

I bought some special snacks for us to snack on through the evening while we stayed up late watching movies.  The kids had so much fun.  We stayed up until almost midnight, then my husband and two oldest headed upstairs to bed (there was only so much room on the living room floor for sleeping bags…and they really preferred their beds!).  I took to the couch and we all had a good night’s rest after our fun evening.  Little did I know that I would be spending the next FIVE nights on the couch…with kids sleeping on the floor in sleeping bags…but with buckets close by!  (Now you know why the silence on the blog this week!)

Yes…we finally succumbed to the sickness that has been going around.  Saturday evening my two youngest boys started throwing up.  By Sunday morning my oldest boy was sick too..and then my youngest daughter.  And did I mention that Sunday was my oldest daughter’s 20th birthday?  We had to postpone her birthday party until this coming weekend…but I am kind of glad because my daughter found a really neat idea for a piano cake which I am going to try to make for her birthday party!

I spent the next five days serving as resident nurse to my sweet ones while this nasty bug ran its course.  Needless to say, I was exhausted, and by Tuesday I was sick too.

After days of just laying around, we are all finally on the mend.  It is so good to hear my rambunctious kids running around the house and pestering each other!  Their energy and appetite is returning praise the Lord!

I am looking forward to getting back into a regular schedule next week and will be doing some more blogging too!

Until then, have a wonderful weekend…and stay well!
