Simplifying My Meal Planning {an update}

This month my “simplifying” focus has been meal planning.  I posted about how I was setting up my menus on the computer so that I could just print out the menus each week, eliminating a step in my meal planning.  Since we are nearing the end of the month, I wanted to share how it went.

Overall, I am really liking having all the menus scheduled in my calendar on the computer.  There were weeks that I ended up not following the menu exactly, but that’s ok.  When I see that I have leftovers in the freezer or refrigerator that I could throw together to make a meal, I will just not fix what was planned and fix the “leftovers” for that meal instead.

Other than that, it was really nice just being able to print out my menus for the week and then go straight to making my grocery list.  I am also finding that we are having more of a variety of meals, as I am not tempted to just default to planning meals “we always have”.

My plan for now is to continue doing my menu planning this way.  I hope this encourages you to take a look at your own “plan” for meal planning and decide if there is a way that you can simplify it!

Have a great week!
