Show you care! Send a hand written note each day of February!

The theme that I want to blog about during the month of February is going to focus on relationships and showing others how much we love and appreciate them.

In my research about bullet journaling, I ran across this writing challenge for the month of February and wanted to share it with you. It is called InCoWriMo — which stands for International Correspondence Writing Month.

The challenge is to hand write and send a card, postcard, or letter each of the 28 days of February. In a day of emailing, texting, video chatting, etc., the hand-written correspondence has fallen by the wayside. I loved the idea of this challenge and can’t wait to begin!

I thought I would give you a few pointers for how you can make this happen for you this coming month — if you are interested. Here are some steps to take:

Get your supplies ready.

Make sure you have an assortment of cards, stationary, and postcards available. If you don’t have anything, you can always make a handmade card or just write a letter on notebook paper and mail in a plain envelope. If you don’t have time to gather materials, just use what you have to get started and plan to go shopping soon!

So make sure you have:

  • Some pretty notecards, postcards, or stationary
  • Stamps

Make a list.

Here is the fun part! Take a piece of paper or add a page in your bullet journal and number the lines from 1-28. Put a checkbox beside each so you can mark them off as you write and mail them.

Now begin writing down the names of people that you would like to send a note to. Here are some ideas:

  • family members
  • friends
  • neighbors
  • your pastor(s)
  • a mentor
  • sponsored children (if you sponsor a child through a ministry)
  • soldiers
  • children in hospitals
  • missionaries
  • pen pals
  • shut-ins
  • local law enforcement/fire station/EMS

When I made my list, I doubled up on some. For example, I wanted to write two letters to children in the hospital, and two letters to a soldier. So I would count those as 4 total. So write out each individual letter or card you want to send until you have 28.

Write and send your correspondence!

Now that you have your list, add a reminder to your daily calendar to write a note and mail it. I am really excited about doing this during the month of February and can’t wait to bless and encourage others.

Do you want to join me? If so, leave me a comment and let me know! Let’s do this together — spread God’s love to others and tell them how much they mean to us.
