How to do Crocheted Edgings

I have been so enjoying the homemaking lessons from The Homemaker’s Mentor! If you haven’t checked these out, you need to! They are just wonderful. I have purchased almost all the past lessons and signed up for the monthly subscription to receive two lessons every month. Yeah!

One of the lessons I bought covered crocheted edgings. I thought I would share this little project I did today. I found this square block of material in my fabric stash this morning. I trimmed the edges, hemmed around the edge, then began to crochet.

I love to crochet, but have never tried anything like this before. It really was not that hard and I love how it turned out.

Here is a close-up of the edging so you can see the stitching. I used some cream colored crochet thread on this (because that’s what I had), but I bet a navy thread would have been pretty too.

I look forward to many more such projects from The Homemaker’s Mentor. This week I fixed some yummy stove-top macaroni and cheese using a recipe from one of the lessons. My kids LOVED it. I have been looking for a good recipe that tastes close to the boxed stuff…now I think I’ve found it!

My next project is to make some yummy bean soups (the recipes of course from the “beans” lesson) and can them for later. That means my first experience with my pressure canner. Yikes! My mom gave me a used one and I haven’t even used it yet. Guess it’s time to try!

How about you? What new things are you learning? I look forward to learning more new things in future lessons!
