Being Intentional = Walking in Love and Obedience!

The focus of my blog for the past several years has been all about being intentional. I have used the verse in Psalm 90:12, “So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom.”

Being Intentional = Walking in Love and Obedience

I knew there were things in my life that I wanted to see happen. Things that I knew were important to spend time on. So I set out to be more intentional about my life and blogging about it.

But the past week or so the Lord has been speaking to my heart about re-evaluating being intentional.

[callout]Ephesians 5:15-17 says, “Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.”[/callout]

Being intentional should not be all about making sure I do the things I want to do, but about being intentional to walk in love and obedience. When I am walking in the Spirit and not in my own flesh, all the things I am doing intentionally will flow from this desire to love and obey.

[callout]Ephesians 5:1-2 says, “Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.”[/callout]

[callout]Matthew 22:37-39 says, “And he said to him, ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.'”[/callout]

It is easy to fall into self-condemnation when I look at my life and see so many areas where I fall short. Areas of my life where I need to be more Spirit led instead of “me” led. Learning how to be intentional in the right things and for the right reasons.

But a verse I read recently really stuck out to me and gave me reassurance:

[callout]Mark 5:36 says, “…Do not fear, only believe.”[/callout]

I need to not dwell in fear or doubt that God will work in my life and begin to believe and trust in Him and the work He wants to do. I know He will show me the areas of my life where I need to shift my priorities and be more intentional. I trust that He will work in my heart and make His will mine.

[reminder]Are you desiring to be intentional in your life? If so, are you being intentional to walk in love and obedience to Christ? I’d love to hear your thoughts![/reminder]

  1. So very timely, Thank you for sharing, Sheri! Not as much being intentional in my daily tasks, but intentionally loving and obeying! I keep finding myself again on the roads of "rules and expectancies" living rather that my love for Christ. No wonder things i build do not stand! I need some sort of reminder on my wall somewhere that will point me back to God. I don't know what that could be :)...Maybe" JUst believe!"
    1. Hi Ilona! So good to hear from you! Thank you for sharing. I do agree that a reminder, maybe a verse, posted on a wall where we see it often would be be a blessing. Maybe I could come up with something everyone could download! Have a great weekend.
